BionX System Overcomes Longest Mountain Bike Race in the World

The Crocodile Trophy is an ultimate test in the sport of mountain biking that takes place in the subtropical Northeast corner of Queensland, Australia. It’s held each October and in 2009, the race covered 1200km over 10 days and includes 12,000 metres of climbing.

This year, Austrian biker Klaus Sever rode the entire event on a KTM bike powered with a BionX propulsion system. Through 10 days of dust, bumps and extreme heat Klaus and his BionX system powered through every challenge to reach the finish line in Cape Tribulation and when he got there, his system was running as smoothly as it did at the start.

BionX systems are built to last with a brushless motor and bearings which need no special care or lubrication for 72,000km and above. The battery is made with the highest-quality lithium manganese cells available for consistent and long-lasting power through hundreds of charge cycles.

While there were initial doubts about Klaus using the BionX equipment, but each day that he and his BionX unit reached the finish line, the number of doubters grew smaller and smaller . Eventually, Klaus and his BionX-equipped bike were so successful that rumours swirled around the camp that other riders would steal the motor on the last day—needless to say, Klaus protected the bike fiercely that night.

While most of the riders who went to take on the Crocodile Challenge were elite cyclists, Klaus was a normal fit person who was able to overcome this incredible challenge with the help of the World’s most advanced bicycle propulsion system. If a BionX system can do all that, just think what it can do for the everyday rider.

Already the e-bike system of choice for brands like Trek, KTM, Diamant, Wheeler and Villiger, BionX is setting the standard for technological leadership, highest product quality and reliable customer service. For more information on BionX, visit www.bionx.ca.
