BionX Intelligent Mobility™ Systems will be debuting several new technologies at this year’s Eurobike trade show. Along with a new control console being implemented as a running change throughout the BionX line, a new ultra light HT-Motor and advanced extra long range downtube battery system will also be introduced.The BionX PL250HT SL XL (or PL350HT outside the EU) Premium system exclusively combines all three new technologies into the lightest, longest range and most intuitive BionX system yet.
The new ultra light HT-Motor rear hub motor/generator is 25% lighter than the current award-winning version but with the exactly the same power, snappier performance and reliability. The BionX engineering team has worked to save weight on almost every facet of the design to shed roughly 1.2kg from the weight of the rear hub motor. When incremental weight savings and performance increases are considered news, the new BionX ultra light HT-Motor rear hub is revolutionary.
The Limited Edition System includes the new extra long range 48v battery that has been engineered in partnership with Samsung to provide the best weight to range ratio in the industry. It’s 20% lighter than currently available batteries in propulsion systems and the increased voltage also allows quicker power delivery in the motor for near instant power transmission.
All 2011 BionX systems will include the new G2 intelligent console. Along with more intuitive controls, reversible for use on either side of the handlebar, the G2 console also includes a host of new practical features such as a hub lock which secures the bicycle when the console is removed from the handlebar dock. This passcode protected-feature provides an extra level of theft protection for BionX users as any replacement console must be programmed with user’s passcode before it will activate the rear motor. The Premium systems will be offered in a limited edition White Finish along with a brushed metal “skin” finish.
BionX will be displaying these innovations along with the full range of BionX products at stand number FGO-202 at the Eurobike Tradeshow to be held September 1-4 at the Messe Friedrichshafen in Germany.
